Join us for the Future of Jobs – Right Here, Right Now at The Oaks Toowoomba Hotel Conference Room on Friday, 20 May 2022 at 9am

Following on from the inaugural 2021 Future of Jobs event, this forum will include presentations from local employers in our key growth industries sharing what they are looking for from employees now and what they expect they will need in their workforce in the years to come. 

They will cover the skills, qualifications and personal attributes they are looking for. The presentations will be followed by a workshop where we will discuss how the presentations should influence changes to current training and education approach for Toowoomba. This is a full day event and includes lunch and morning/afternoon tea.

The aim of the forum is to:

  • Share workforce needs and identify the gaps so we can prepare the Toowoomba workforce for the foreseeable future;
  • Hear directly from industry representatives about their workforce challenges. and
  • Identify any additional work that needs to be done at the education and training level, to ensure there are a pool of qualified/skilled applicants to choose from by local employers.

Who is it for:

It is suitable for training organisations, schools, universities, and employment service representatives. Along with anyone interested in what the Future of Jobs in Toowoomba is expected to look like.

Jasmine Riddle

Stephen Dummett

 Stephen is an ‘outside of the box’ thinker who challenges others to do the same.  His role as the AgTech and Innovation Manager at the Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) depends heavily upon his broad industry network and technical background. He has over 10 years Agtech experience and 39 years of broader technology background across multiple industries.

 Stephen is passionate about the success of the region and ensuring we have a skilled workforce for the future. At TSBE, we’re committed to ensuring that our local business community will innovate, adapt, and prosper.  Having an evolving skilled workforce that is agile and ready to respond to global demands is vital to the success of our region.

Mark Ryan

 Mark is a Professional Manager with substantial experience in Work Health and Safety (COHSPrac), compliance management and Human Resource leadership (MAHRI). He maintains a strong passion for work health and safety along with the development of staff at all levels through coaching, mentoring and training as part of the continuous improvement that any successful business requires.

 Mark’s current role is WHS/HR Manager at McLean Farms in Pittsworth. McLean Farms is a family owned and operated agricultural business and is now one of the largest egg producers in Queensland and Australia. The company has expanded its interests into pig production, cattle grazing and feed lotting, stock feed milling, broad acre grain production and egg processing. McLean Farms also has extensive interests in commercial layer, meat chicken and pig genetics, raw material supplies to the stock feed industry, pork processing, egg and pork marketing and live export of cattle.
